Whilst I agree that most of the songs that usually make it to the Billboard charts don’t exactly offer substantial & meaningful message, lucky for us, there’s a handful of delightful exceptions. Below’s a list of hit tunes that show us inspiration can be found just about anywhere.
Whether you choose to listen to them in the comfort of your home, at work, on the road or at the beach, may they motivate you to always look at the sunny side of life & fearlessly move forward on your path to greatness. Enjoy!
“Am I Wrong? ” – Nico & Vinz
It’s hard not to sing along and dance whenever this upbeat tune comes on. The Norwegian duo succeeded in creating a song that is not just catchy but also inspiring and relatable.
I’m sure many of us encounter times where we ask ourselves whether our decision to follow our dreams will end up being worth it. “Am I Wrong” provides a sense of comfort to those of us who opt to go against the grain that we’re in fact – not alone.
“Am I wrong ? For thinking out the box from where I stay? Am I wrong ? For saying that I choose another way? I ain’t trying to do what everybody else doin’. Just ’cause everybody doin’ what they all do. If one thing I know, I’ll fall but I’ll grow”
“The Spark” – Afrojack feat. Spree Wilson
As the title suggests, this song seeks to remind us of the spark that exists within all of us. Throughout life, there will always be people who disagree, disapprove or try to keep us down because they can’t stand seeing other people succeed.
When that happens, don’t give in to the noise. Instead, keep believing in yourself and continue to invest time and effort in realizing your dreams.
“And there’s some around who wanna keep you down, but shawty don’t be blinded. Hey, feeling trapped, thinking that you can’t get out of this humdrum scene. Time to turn this thing upside down. Show these people what you really mean”
“The Best Day of My Life” – American Authors
You can’t help but have a positive outlook in life when listening to this tune. It encourages you to welcome each day with open arms and live it to the fullest.
Personally, this song reminds me of summer spent frolicking with friends in, on or by the water and knowing that despite hardships that come and go in our lives, life is nothing short of amazing.
“Oh all the possibilities. No limits just epiphanies. I’m never gonna look back, Whoa-Oh. Never gonna give it up, No-Oh. Just don’t wake me now! This is gonna be the best day of my life..”
“Life in Color” – OneRepublic
I was fortunate enough to be in the room last year when Ryan Tedder, the frontman of OneRepublic, admitted to the media that he and the guys in the group love to write songs that can serve as life anthems and this song is certainly a great example.
It reminds me of a modern rendition of Jimmy Cliff’s “I can see clearly now” that reminds us that it is often the darkest before dawn and that there is clarity to be found after chaos subside. It inspires us to look within when the going gets tough because like everything else in life, it too shall pass.
“I do my best to find some kind of glow, I’m givin’ it some heart and soul, now. From the darkest grays, the sun bursts, clouds break. Yeah, we see that fire from the streets of Babylon to the road that we’ve been on now. The kaleidoscope claims another. Well, this is life in color.”
“Happy” – Pharell Williams
Ever since I heard this song on Despicable me 2 movie, I was instantly hooked. Sure enough, eight months later – when its incredibly uplifting video came out, it became a huge hit and inspired millions worldwide to create their own “Happy” video.
Its catchy tune and inspiring lyrics effortlessly connect to our inner happiness and inspire us to see the sunny side of life whenever we listen to it – which is no wonder that it remains positioned high on the billboard charts after 26 weeks after its debut.
“It might seem crazy what I’m about to say. Sunshine she’s here, you can take away. I’m a hot air balloon, I could go to space. With the air, like I don’t care baby by the way. Because I’m happy! Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof. Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth. Clap along if you know what happiness is to you.”
