“Be willing to step outside your comfort zone once in a while; take the risks in life that seem worth taking. The ride might not be as predictable if you’d just planted your feet and stayed put, but it will be a heck of a lot more interesting.”

– Edward Whitacre, Jr.

To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all…

Most of us are familiar with this popular Oscar Wilde quote but I believe that not enough of us really contemplate on the message he is trying to convey through his words of wisdom.

No matter where we came from and despite our vastly different backgrounds as well as ideologies, we all have dreamt of our own version of an ideal life; how it looks, feels, and even tastes like if we were living the life of our dreams.

Yet, instead of taking that leap of faith and working towards where we would like to be in life, we come up with multitude of reasons as to why we don’t have what it takes to succeed and opt for the comfort zone.

I’m certainly not saying that we shouldn’t be grateful for who we are and what we’ve already accomplished and attained – In fact, it’s essential to count our blessings as we work towards creating our best self and our ideal life.

However, I believe that complacency is dangerous and to deny ourselves of the life we’ve always wanted is a great waste of our talents, gifts, and passions.

A ship in a harbor is safe, but that’s not what a ship is built for

I believe that we’re all very much capable of achieving great things. But, this is only true if we choose to believe in ourselves and our capabilities enough to break through our fears, be willing to embrace change, and take risks.

There can be no amount of learning without a certain level of discomfort and there can be no progress without taking risks.

Whilst change and growth maybe frightening and at times, painful, there’s nothing more painful than to go through life wondering what could have been.

That said, I’ve a curated selection of words of wisdom to motivate you to show yourself and the world what you’re made of.

Whatever your dreams are, I hope that they serve as powerful reminders that “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” – Jack Canfield.
