“There’s nothing quite like music to relieve the soul & uplifts it”

– Mickey Hart

Want to start each day with  a jolt of energy and positivity?

Regardless of how you feel when you first arise in the morning, listening to a set of feel-good music is a potent way of infusing that extra spring in your step and to conquer the day.

In continuation to my post on Quotes on the Power of Music, I’d like to share a playlist of some of my “get ready for the day” tunes that will lift your mood and inspire you to see the bright side of life on a daily basis.

Have a listen, crank up the volume, and seize the day! 🙂

Put Your Records On – Corrine Bailey Ray

Listening to Corrine’s velvety, soothing voice is just what one needs to feel calm and collected in the morning.

The comforting tune and lyrics this songs lets us know that no matter what is going in our lives, it’s going to be alright.

” Maybe sometimes we’ve got it wrong, but it’s alright The more things seem to change, the more they stay the same.

Oh, don’t you hesitate. Put your records on, tell me your favorite song. You go ahead, let your hair down. You’re gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow…”

Feeling Good – Michael Bub

Want to put a spring to your step and a smile on your face in the morning? Have a listen to this track and it’ll do the trick!

As much as we’d hate to admit it, most of us often take for granted the beauty that is all around us.

Instead of rushing through the day, take the time to look around to smell the roses and realize just how much good we have in our lives already.

“Birds flying high, You know how I feel Sun in the sky, You know how I feel…Reeds driftin’ on by, You know how I feel.

It’s a new dawn, It’s a new day. It’s a new life for me… And I’m feeling good…”

Can’t hold me down – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton

Feeling nervous about that big interview/ presentation/ event? Try putting this upbeat song on repeat and you’ll inevitably feel invincible – as if you can handle just about anything that comes your way because nothing can hold you down.

“Can we go back, this is the moment. Tonight is the night, we’ll fight ’til it’s over. So we put our hands up like the ceiling can’t hold us
Like the ceiling can’t hold us…”

The Remedy (I won’t worry) – Jason Mraz

Let’s face it, sometimes we let our worries and anxiety get the best of us and find ourselves waking up to a sour mood. As the title suggests, this song is the remedy for days where you wake up feeling less than stellar.

It encourages us to let go of our worries and just enjoy ALL parts of life – the good, the bad and the ugly.

Having attended one of his concerts in the past, Jason exudes this calm yet powerful presence that’s evidently reflected in his lyrics. It’s easy to see that he literally lives and breathes his music.

“I say the tragedy is how you’re gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on.

So shine the light on all of your friends. Well, if it all amounts to nothing in the end – I won’t worry my life away…”

Walking on Sunshine – Katrina & the Waves

It’s hard to not sing along and feeling happy whenever this song comes on and if you’re anything like me, start dancing & prancing around the room.

Though it’s intended to be a romantic love song, its catchy and upbeat tune also reminds me of summer time at the beach, basking in the sun, and feeling care free. It’s definitely a happy-go-lucky track that never fails to lift up my mood.

“I’m walking on sunshine, whoa… And don’t it feel good?
Hey, all right now – and don’t it feel good?!”

Good Day – Nappy Roots

I think of “Good day” as a version of the “Happy” song with a bit of an edge.

It encourages us to see the good in every day because as long as we are still alive and kicking, life is good and there’s always something to be grateful for.

“We’re gonna have a good day. And ain’t nobody gotta cry today. Cause ain’t nobody gonna die today….

Save that drama for another day. Heyyy we’re gonna have a good day!”

Suddenly I see – KT. Tunstall

Chosen as the opening track to the iconic “Devil Wears Prada” movie, this song reminds me of a popular quote on career “It’s a beautiful thing when career and passion come together”

It seeks to remind us that nothing is as satisfying as doing what you love and loving what you do!

“Suddenly I see (suddenly I see), this is what I wanna be.
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see), why the hell it means so much to me…”

Do or Die – 3 seconds from Mars

Similar to “Can’t Hold Us Down“, this song is all about stepping up to the plate and giving it all we got in everything that we do. It seeks to encourage us that life is too short to not be spent rising with enthusiasm and living each day as it were our last.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Jared Leto and the 3 Seconds from Mars Boys at an event I’ve done for a previous job and the intensity of emotions and talent that he brings to everything he does is mind blowing. This song is no exception – it’s truly inspiring.

“Fate is coming, that I know. Time is running, got to go.
Faith is coming, that I know. Let it go. Here right now.
Under the banner of heaven, we dream out loud.
It’s time to do or die…”

Good Life – OneRepublic

Through yet another past job, I also had the opportunity to meet the boys of OneRepublic in real life. The guys are all talented but I’m in awe and truly appreciate Ryan Tedder’s (the band’s frontman) knack for writing heartfelt and oh so relatable lyrics.

As the title suggests, despite the ups and downs of life, it’s a good life! This song encourages us to embrace life and savor & appreciate the joyful moments that make us feel blessed to be alive.

“When you’re happy like a fool, let it take you over.
When everything is out, you gotta take it in.
Oh this has gotta be the good life…”
