“Minds of people need a good revolution and great quotations are good revolutionists!”

– Mehmet Murat Ildan

If you too happen to be a blogger, chances are, you’ve met other amazing individuals in the blogosphere who you just instantly connect with.

For me, one of those people was Miriam, the wonderful blogger behind Out an’ About.

As a fellow lover of quotes, she kindly nominated me for this lovely little challenge.  I was delighted when she informed me of course, but then it later dawned on me that I really have my work cut out for me.

Why you asked?

Well, with an abundance of amazing words of wisdom out there, it’s far from easy to select just 3! That said, though  it was definitely challenging, I’ve *finally* narrowed down my selection and will be sharing all three of the quotes right on this post over a period of three days.

My choice for Day 1 is:

“The happiest people don’t have the best of everything. They just make the best out of everything”

The quote above is one that I truly live my life by.  While it’s easy to automatically believe that in order to be happy, one must have the best or a lot of everything – especially when it comes to financial wealth. But in my own experience, I found that many of of what we often refer to *rich* individuals are some of the most miserable people I know!

Conversely, I’ve met people who have much less in comparison  and yet, they appear to be perpetually wealthy at heart. They seem to always smiling and happy to share what they have.

No matter what our circumstances are, happiness can only come from within – by appreciating what we’ve already got and making the best of the cards that we are dealt. 🙂

Happiness

PS: Miriam, if you’re reading this, I’m sorry that it’s taken me longer than it should! That said,  hopefully you like my selections as much as much as I did yours!

And to my fellow nominees, as I know you are also fond of quotes I hope that you’ll happily take on this challenge and continue this words of wisdom chain. Much thanks in advance for your participation, I look forward to reading your choices! 🙂

  3. Nominate 3 new bloggers each single day of the challenge.

Day 2:

” Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls.”

-Joseph Campbell

The moment I came across and read this quote some time during my early 20’s, I was instantly captivated. Chills went down my spine and I knew that this was one of those quotes that will be a game-changer. And indeed it was and still in.

From that point on, whenever I find myself on a fork in the road type of situation, I simply take a deep breath, recite this string of words of wisdom and in the blink of an eye, the answer became crystal clear.

For me, this quote essentially says “Do what you love and everything else will fall into place.” and it has given me the strength, time and time again, to beat to the rhythm of my own drums, to keep doing what it is that I love, to step closer towards my dreams regardless fear, external expectations and/or scrutiny. I hope that it too will inspire you to do the same! 🙂

Do what you love

Day 3:

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.” – Steve Jobs

As human beings, we’re wired to crave security and certainty. Most of us hate it when things derail, or don’t pan out as we expected it to.  And in the past, I was certainly no exception. When things don’t go my way, it would throw me out of the loop, leaving me feeling angry, disappointed, defeated or all of the above.

Luckily, over the years I realized that it makes no sense to resist or to fight it. Life’s messy and sometimes things happen that is completely out of our control.

We can either let these “detours” get us down and out or choose to see it as another opportunity to grow and trust that whatever happens, no matter how far it is from your expectations, life is unraveling as it should.

As the quote suggests, perhaps one day, all the dots will connect and everything that you’ve gone through will make perfect sense.

Until then, trust that you are exactly where you need to be. Have an unrelenting belief that things will work out, and that the long, winding road has its purpose. 🙂

Trust
