“Your life does not get better by chance. It gets better by change.” — Jim Rohn

Happy new you or happy new year? Will it be a good year or not?

Well, that is really up to you…

You can make it a good one or you can completely screw it up.

So, what are you going to do?

I’ve been feeling a little down for some reason. And then, the same message came to me in 3 different ways.

As we approached the new year, one of my good friends, Olga Dewar, said to me to leave behind what I don’t want. Then, as silly as it sounds, as I was watching the Lego movie, it reminded me that everything is perspective.

If you think and look at things differently, you’ll see that the meaning we give them changes.

Change the way you think

This applies same with personal development, nothing actually changes. What changes are how we see and think of things which gives them a different meaning. And when we see things differently, we feel different which facilitates change and development.

Lastly, out of nowhere, I got this Instagram phone call from a lovely older lady whom our paths only crossed briefly … She said “Happy Birthday!” instead of “Happy New Year!”

My reply was “Happy Birthday to you too!” then she said “You’re quick.”

She wished me the best for the year ahead and said it will be a successful one for me. “You’ll get a lot of business and everything will be great for you this year…” she said.

She was very specific and listed everything that I do

From coachingweb designart to creating IOS games. She also shared on her call ‘Don’t think and be happy” to which my reply was a resounding “YES!”

The Universe really has greater intelligence than us.

The interesting thing is that this message came to me in 3 different ways, while I was stuck in my head. They all confirmed that the year will be a good one and to focus on what we want more of, look at things in a different way, and let go of what no longer support us.

Now, I’m asking you – What will you make of this year?

You don’t need anyone to tell you if it will be a good one or not. The power is within you to make it what you would like it to be.

make it a good year

In my mind, the decision was already made that 2024 will be one of the best ones for me. These messages were just confirmations. And there’s nothing wrong with feeling down as long as you are aware of it.

Normally, I pick a word every year to live by for the whole year. Last year my word was “CALM”. This year, my word is “EXCITEMENT” as there are so many surprises coming this year and this is MY year.

What is your word for this year that you can live by?

The reason for choosing a word for the new year is that it is easier to live by a word.

One of my close friends keeps telling me that new year resolutions don’t necessarily work but words are powerful.

In my experience, a single word is all you need. So make yours a good one. You can also choose a song if you like. It can ‘act’ like a word and you live by it for the whole year.

Here are some more suggestions for making a fresh start in the new year:

  • Set specific, achievable goals for yourself. Consider what you want to accomplish this year and make a plan for how to get there.
  • Take time to reflect on the past year. What went well? What could you have done differently? What did you learn?
  • Prioritize self-care. Make time for activities that nourish your body, mind, and spirit.
  • Seek out new opportunities and experiences. Try something new or take on a challenge that pushes you out of your comfort zone. These challenges will help define who you are and help you find your place in the world.
  • Practice gratitude. Take time each day to appreciate the people, experiences, and things in your life.
  • Surround yourself with supportive people. Build strong, positive relationships with those who lift you up and encourage you.
  • Hang around people that are different from you or read a book by someone you don’t agree with. It will show you a different perspective than yours. You will see the world in a different way.
  • Hang around people who are more skilled than you. Just by hanging around people who are more skilled you will lift your game and become better at what you are doing.
  • Take care of your physical health. Exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and get enough sleep.
  • Don’t be too hard on yourself. Be kind and compassionate with yourself, and remember that it’s okay to make mistakes.
  • Ask for help when you need it. We need other people’s help to progress. You can’t do things on your own.
  • Focus on the present moment. It can be easy to get caught up in the past or worry about the future but try to stay present and focus on what you can do right now.

Happy New Year

Happy new year and happy new you. Here is to a year full of success, good health and abundance for all of us. May you achieve all that your heart desires…
