“Sit quietly for a moment and receive.” — R. Murray Schafer
Sound is all around us…
The music we listen to, the sounds of nature, the rhythm of our breath… each can influence the way we experience a moment.
A familiar song can instantly shift our mood. The sound of ocean waves can help us unwind. An uplifting melody can energize us, while softer sounds may invite us to slow down.
But what exactly is a frequency and what does science tell us about the connection between sound and well-being?

What Is a Sound Frequency?
In simple terms, frequency refers to how many times a sound wave repeats per second and is measured in Hertz (Hz).
Frequency helps determine the pitch we perceive, but our experience of music involves much more than frequency alone. Tempo, rhythm, harmony, volume, repetition and even our personal associations with certain sounds can all influence the way music makes us feel.
And this is where sound becomes particularly interesting as a wellness tool.
What Does Science Say About Sound & Well-Being?

You don’t have to believe that a particular frequency holds special powers to recognize that sound can affect the way you feel.
In fact, a large systematic review and meta-analysis of 104 randomized controlled trials involving 9,617 participants found that music interventions had significant effects on both psychological and physiological stress-related outcomes.
Research into individual frequencies, however, is much more limited.
For example, a small randomized clinical trial comparing music tuned to 432 Hz and 440 Hz found that both music groups experienced lower anxiety than a no-music control group, while researchers also observed differences in salivary cortisol associated with the 432 Hz condition.
The study involved only 42 participants, however, so findings like these are interesting rather than proof that a particular frequency has universal therapeutic effects.
This is an important distinction.
While specific frequencies have developed different associations within meditation and wellness communities, many claims you’ll encounter online about individual frequencies haven’t been scientifically established.
At Fleur de Lyz, we prefer to think of frequency music not as a prescription, but as a supportive environment for intention.
And What Are Chakras?
You may also notice that frequency music (some of ours included) is often connected with the chakra system.
Originating in ancient Indian spiritual traditions, chakras are generally understood as centers of subtle energy within the body. The word chakra comes from Sanskrit and means “wheel.”
Different traditions describe chakra systems in different ways, but the seven-chakra model commonly practiced today places seven primary chakras along the body’s central axis, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.
Each is traditionally associated with different aspects of our emotional and spiritual experience — from grounding and security to expression, love, intuition and higher awareness.
Chakras are best understood within a yogic and spiritual framework rather than as anatomical structures recognized by modern medicine. For many people, however, they provide a meaningful focus for meditation, visualization, yoga and self-reflection.
And sound can certainly become part of those practices.
Why We Created Fleur de Lyz Frequencies & Sounds
For over 2 years, the Fleur de Lyz Coaching’s YouTube channel has been a space where we share tools like guided meditations, affirmations and subliminal focused on mindfulness, self-reflection, and intentional living.
But sometimes, we realize, you don’t need more words. Maybe you simply want to meditate, journal, practice yoga, visualize, work or relax with beautiful sounds filling the space around you.
That’s why we created Fleur de Lyz Frequencies & Sounds, a growing collection of immersive frequency music and soundscapes created around different intentions.
And if you’re curious to explore frequency music for yourself, here are three of our soundscapes to get you started:
528 Hz: Wake Up to Positive Energy
528 Hz is commonly referred to within frequency and meditation communities as the “love frequency” or “miracle tone.”
Our Morning Activation soundscape was created around a simple intention: beginning your day with positive energy and inner renewal.
Try playing it while meditating, stretching, getting ready, journaling or visualizing the day ahead.
Rather than immediately giving your attention to everything waiting for you, think of it as an opportunity to create a little space for yourself first, and intentionally choose how you want to begin the day.
639 Hz: Open Your Heart
The heart chakra, or Anahata, is traditionally associated with love, compassion, connection and openness.
639 Hz is commonly associated within contemporary Solfeggio practices with connection and harmonious relationships, which became the inspiration behind this soundscape.
Use this Heart Chakra frequency music as a companion for gratitude, meditation, journaling or gentle heart-opening yoga. You might simply sit quietly, bring your awareness toward your heart and set an intention to approach yourself, and others, with greater openness & compassion.
963 Hz: Come Home to Yourself
At the top of the traditional seven-chakra system sits the crown chakra, or Sahasrara, commonly associated with higher awareness, consciousness and spiritual connection.
This special 963 Hz soundscape was created for quieter, more contemplative moments when you want to turn your attention inward.
Play it during meditation, prayer, visualization, yoga or reflection, or simply give yourself permission to be still for a while.
Because sometimes activation isn’t about doing more. Sometimes it’s about quieting everything else long enough to come home to yourself…
Find What Resonates With You
There is no single “right” way to experience frequency music.
You can listen actively during meditation or allow it to play in the background while you journal, work, practice yoga, doing chores or kickstart your morning.
Instead of asking: “What is this frequency supposed to do to me?”
Instead, try asking: “How do I want to feel, and what kind of space can I create to support that?”
Notice what resonates with you… Which sounds help you settle inward? Which ones help you feel energized, connected or present?
Because frequency music doesn’t have to be about chasing a particular outcome. It can simply be another way of creating a safe & comforting space for yourself.
And perhaps you’ll find that changing the sounds around us can help shift something within us too.
