If you celebrate the small victories, you will eventually win the war. — Ian K. Smith

We recently reached 20,000 subscribers on our YouTube channel, and while that number may look like a “big” milestone on the surface, what it truly represents are thousands of small, consistent steps taken over time. Every video created, every edit, every moment of self-doubt pushed through, every comment replied to — all of it added up.

And crossing this milestone reminded me of something important.

Most of us have been conditioned to celebrate life’s major milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, promotions, and so forth, yet we often fail to notice that our small victories may just hold as much significance — if not more.

Chances are, perhaps on a daily basis, we experience numerous little “wins” that we tend to overlook and take for granted. We brush them aside because they don’t feel monumental enough. They don’t come with applause or announcements. But that doesn’t make them any less meaningful.

These little wins can be as simple as completing a particularly challenging assignment at work, finally making it to that spin class you’ve been thinking about for weeks, choosing to respond calmly instead of reacting emotionally, or simply getting through a difficult day with compassion & grace.

These seemingly modest victories are just as instrumental because they are the necessary steps which lead us to our “big” achievements. They are the quiet building blocks of growth.

As Robert Collier wisely said, “Success is the sum of small efforts — repeated day in and day out.”

The truth is, success isn’t a single grand event. It’s a series of tiny, consistent decisions made with intention.

As we work towards creating our best lives and becoming the best version of ourselves, it’s crucial that we give ourselves a pat on the back for each job well done. Acknowledging progress fuels momentum. Celebration reinforces belief. And belief keeps us moving forward.

Be sure to recognize your efforts and once in a while, why not reward yourself with a little indulgence that brings you joy? Treat yourself to a delicious meal, a relaxing spa treatment, a quiet afternoon with a good book, or a fun weekend at the beach. Celebration doesn’t have to be extravagant — it simply needs to be intentional.

The truth is that no matter who we are, we’re all human and our lives are constant works in progress. Growth is not linear, and progress rarely looks glamorous. To truly make the most of this journey, we must learn to savor and embrace it — not just the destination, but the becoming.

On this often long and winding road, challenges and obstacles are inevitable. There will be seasons where recognition is scarce and support feels distant. At times, there may be no one else we can look to other than ourselves to cheer us on.

And that’s precisely why we must become our own best friend — our own raving fan.

In moments when motivation wanes or the finish line feels far away, remind yourself of how far you’ve already come. Celebrate the effort. Celebrate the resilience. Celebrate the courage it took to try again.

So the next time you’re tempted to take your little victories in stride, pause instead. Even if your final goal still feels distant, choose to acknowledge the steps you’ve taken. Recognize who you have become and what you have achieved — because those small wins are quietly shaping your future.

And who knows? They may just carry you to better things and places than you could ever dream of!
